the bats of texas and the circle of life

a lot of people are aware that austin has teh larget urban bat colony in the world at over 1 million bats that live under the congress street bridge and emerge every night in the summer.

just north of austin in the suburb of round rock is another bridge with a smaller bat colony.
I went there for the first time last week to photograpgh them

their numbers is troubling. I believe climate change is involved cuz besides the bugs, they love the fruit of the saguaro and the saguaro just hasn't been making as much fruit the past few years.
