A self portrait, sort of.

The last couple of years has handed me just about all the reality one old man can survive so I've moved to a small little red neck town, population 1600, just north of Ft Worth, TX and have eschewed reality for the most part. WTF, if you don't like where you're livin' move on to a better place. Even it's just in your head.

This is what greets the postal person.

And this is what my humble abode looks like.

I kinda live in a tree house.

Which is okay 'cause I like birds and they seem to like me.

And my front door. Once I hung the skull the UPS guys left my packages at the far end of the porch.

This guards the front yard. I was concerned that I might have to meet the UPS guys in the street after I put him in place but they seem to have adapted.

Speaking of trees they talk to me at night when the wind blows. Sometimes they even say nice things. Or maybe it's the amateur pharmacology . . .

There are unicorn remains in the back yard. Seems dragons and unicorns don't get along. Who knew?

I adopted a cat but he's definitely an outside cat and won't eat.

And finally this small guy shares my morning coffee out on the balcony.

It ain't no high life, but it's my life . . .

1. You really have the bases covered with the bird feeders!

I have a similar set up, but in different locations, the feeder in front can only be used by small birds, and one in back is for doves, the other for pigeons. I don't put out suet because I think the roof rats eat most of it.

I have a couple watering stations, including a bird bath, the starlings and pigeons love it.

I have a website: andyshanks.smugmug.com where you can see some of visitors. They will be under Wild Things.

I hear owls every night and the deer eat all my landscaping. Have an armadillo that aerates the yard, bigly. I live in a tree house in the middle of a wildlife sanctuary.

Kinda' suits me.

You sure have a unique sense of humor and sensibility about how to live right.

Everything looks great. Shady, green, and just the right accessories!

Love it all!!
I'm wondering if something similar on our front door would deter all the unwanted solicitations ringing my doorbell over here in North Dallas.
