Related: About this forumHydrangeas Blooming this Year
For the first time in ages the weather has cooperated to allow my hydrangeas to bloom.
If you don't mind going to the link and expanding the post, you'll see some of my garden photos. I've lost the login credentials for flickr where I used to host my photos to post here. I also think I posted some in low res because I reduced them to send in an email to my mom, so not ideal, but you get the idea.

(149,614 posts)I have never seen them massed that way before. Mostly people grow them as single bushes.

Once I learned how easy it was to propagate hydrangeas, and with me wanting to fill up a lot of space with plants, massing them just made sense.
They're still nice healthy green shrubs even when they don't bloom (though of course I much prefer when they do) and massing them also keeps down the weeds.
I'm not willing to put in the time & poisons it would take to grow a typical suburban lawn.
