let's see a few while we're waiting. Post your own.
I'll start. Two views from last night. Looking east at sunset.
Vibrant yellow turned to pink in about 10 minutes.

(8,308 posts)Not quite as majestic as yours, which are spectacular. As are Ocelot's. Some mornings here, though, are just wow. Look at those colors. Wish I had a better camera. That might be in my future though.

(6,584 posts)And here's a close-up... very strange-looking.
Here's a 'shelf cloud' approaching my house from the north.
And this is looking south, after it passed... very Biblical-looking!
And this is a sunset. Nothing phenomenal, it was just gosh-darned pretty!

(31,384 posts)I have to go look through my archives today. I'm pretty sure I have shots of a shelf cloud taken at the beach a couple of years ago. I didn't know what it was.

(8,890 posts)are Mammatus Clouds!
This is three stitched shots as I only had my 'normal' 50mm lens and could not capture the entirety of the scene. The original is 10K pixels so not sure how this will look slimmed down.
Operating under what I call self imposed 'Apocalypse Rules', I monitor military flights in and out of MacDill AFB in Tampa but restrict myself to only what I can capture from my back yard, I'll post one of those later. But while marveling at this sky, I captured the 2nd shot of a commercial flight leaving TIA flying into that most bizarre sky.

(31,384 posts)Thanks to Talitha, I now know what this was, too!
The thing was huge. Didn't have a wide angle lense for my camera, so these are two photos taken on my cell phone. Imagine it joined the right edge of the first photo to the left edge of the second photo.

(31,384 posts)August 2018. That's the Castello San Giorgio--centered in the shot-- above the town of Portofino (Italy) on the other side of the rocks.

(8,308 posts)Fabulous photos and some of us learned something new. Your shelf cloud pic actually made my jaw drop. That is amazing.
Here's a few more happy little clouds from a trip I took last year along the Snake River.
