Knock knock.
Who's there?
Orange?
Orange Who?
Orange you glad you picked[p style="font-size: 300%;"] Orange
I will start taking entries sent to me by private mail sometime after the Labor Day weekend. I will wait to decide the cutoff and contest dates until I know my schedule in September, and see how the summer contest is shaping up.
GOOD LUCK, and remember to filter all your visual perceptions of the world in an [p style="font-size: 300%;"] Orangeway.

(15,812 posts)Every contest we have people asking how to enter, so I thought I would post this once in GD. I hope I didn't break some rule. I spent all my time looking up html color codes, so I don't have the time to look up GD rules for posts.

(15,812 posts)For those that didn't read the voting thread............
I keep thinking, Big Orange, UT, etc. No, that orange is not allowed in the contest, nor are any sports jerseys.

(5,113 posts)and a tough one. I think I have an entry but im still looking. I have to choose between 2,one common one very uncommon

(15,812 posts)Red, green, black, white. Time to roll one out again. I picked orange because it is a little different, and there really are a variety of shades of orange. My avatar is mostly orange, and I think I made it with a NASA photo of the sun (crop circle diagram in front of it).
I actually love orange. Orange was an "in" color in the seventies, with the burnt orange being the earthy tones, and bright orange being kind of psychedelic. We wore some wild colors back then.
In my files, I only have one photo I might want to submit for this theme (NOT the one below!). So, yes, I do consider it a challenge.
I use this photo in slideshows I make, and have it on business cards (lots of lettering on top). So, yes, I think I like orange.
It makes a good backdrop with the lettering on top of it, but I don't consider it a particularly wonderful photo on its own merit. I like the color in it a lot, though, excepting any sports team connections.
I'm not particularly fond of orange jerseys, though.

(22,380 posts)and the most challenging because everything of the color at hand began to beckon...
I looked and found many favorites that are predominantly orange. To the point that I would love to do a thread of "help me chose" - but I can't.
So I showed a batch to some college students I invited for dinner, and they disregarded my favorite and went into a whole different direction in what they liked.
Frustrating.

(15,812 posts)I have come to realize that if it matters any at all to me, I don't ask anyone's opinion, because not getting confirmation is frustrating and conflicting.
In that case, why did we ask for an opinion in the first place?
My new way is not to ask for opinions unless I am 100 percent fine with any response.
Good luck selecting!

(22,380 posts)and I learn a whole lot watching the reaction of folks who don't know me or my photos or the backgrounds behind my having taken them.
Your points are well taken, without a doubt. Nevertheless I gather opinions every chance I get.

(5,113 posts)or going in a completely bizarre/abstract directions
Celebration
(15,812 posts)I think I can tell you want to go the bizarre route. Why not? You can submit a normal photo any old time. Having said that, believe it or not, our voters are a bit, um, (dare I say it) conservative in their tastes.
I like quirky, though.
Lots of things to weigh. Go with your gut.
Good luck. You have some time to mull it over.

(10,618 posts)so I had to go out this morning on a picture hunting expedition. As luck would have it, I found some orange wildlife. Picture has been sent to you.
