Did anyone actually like the series Voyage to the bottom of the sea?

Now I enjoyed the movie.

Seen Richard Basehart in some fine movies, and David Hedison in the classic horror movie the fly.

Downloaded some episodes to binge watch but the show is God awful, horrible effects, dull scripts and close copy stories of other sci fi shows.

But I loved lost in space???

I realize that childhood memories of them were through rose-colored glasses. Some of them are really horrible.

The crew of the Seaview , the world's first privately owned nuclear submarine, explores oceans and seeks answers to the world's problems.
They encounter espionage, environmental catastrophe, nuclear doomsday scenarios, and more than their share of undersea monsters.
First episode date: September 14, 1964

James Doohan was offered the part of Chief Sharkey, but turned it down, because that same week he was offered and accepted the role of Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott of the Starship Enterprise on Star Trek (1966), for which he became famous.

The props used in this show, (such as the computers and guns) also were used in Lost in Space (1965), The Time Tunnel (1966), Land of the Giants (1968), and Batman (1966).

The cheesiness of the special effects was due to his legendary "thriftiness". He pretty much built his career on the idea of splicing stock footage together to make a movie.

Like most series of the era, this devolved into a "monster of the week" formula. Irwin Allen was riding pretty high in those days, also producing Land of the Giants, Lost in Space, The Time Tunnel and many others.

David Hedison, who turns 91 this year, still works from time to time. In his early career, he was credited as Al Hedison including his role when he was 30 years old as "Lieutenant Ware" in the 1957 classic "The Enemy Below" with Robert Mitchum.

I was damn glad to see American TV too we were stationed in Germany at the time and American TV only ran from what was it noon to 10 pm in the evening and then it went to German TV.
Even with the smattering of German I could understand it was still boring.

My husband and I bought some of the DVD's several years back. It hasn't aged very well, but they're fun to watch provided your expectations aren't too high.
