Or rather, the whole Return of the Governors story arc over the last three episodes? I don't have an issue with the end result of the prison assault per se, but it just seemed like we missed about three or four episodes of story or even more, where the writers could have explained how he lost his regained humanity again and convinced a group of people that barely knew him to follow him in the prison assault. I could have seen the prison assault being being worked toward as the true season finale rather than rushed into as the mid-season finale.

(22,340 posts)I thought it was a nice indication of those that can't come back from what they've done. The Governor wanted to come back but just couldn't. He was who he had become. And it showed how Rick had changed over the months.

(4,851 posts)In the end, Rick will still never walk away without a fight and the Governor could not change from his evil nature. Rick should have asked the three questions. Sad for Herschel's departure, I love Scott Wilson and will miss seeing him.

(39,405 posts)When he was still morally ambivalent up until the moment he killed the good brother, I thought the "new" governor would make an excellent spinoff.
It did seemed rushed because as far as the folks at the prison were concerned, the governor just popped up out of nowhere--there was no suspense or build up of conflict.

(22,340 posts)First episode set this season up as "can you come back from the horrible shit you've done?" Seems the answer is that some can (Rick and Carl) and some can't (Governor).

(2,702 posts)In the comics, she didn't survive the assault. It was definitely more ambiguous on the show, leaving the possibility she's still alive (on the bus maybe?)
And Tyreese kept his head and Rick kept his hand - but for how long?

(26,467 posts)I think daryl has her. In general, it's diverged from the comic so much that the comic can't be used as a concrete guide for the future, except for little bits here and there.
in an interview, kirkman regrets having rick lose his hand, as it limits the character, so I think he'll get to keep it in the show.

(97 posts)That bugged me more than anything in that last episode.
It would have ended the assault

Really, really bothered me.
It doesn't even have to be a trained sniper.
Just a guy with a scoped bolt action hunting rifle.
It's in the country in Georgia for pete's sake
Plenty of hunters that had bolt action scoped hunting rifles. Now all of a sudden it's all military weapons on the show.
Remember the rifle Dale had before he was killed last season?
A bolt action scoped hunting rifle. Two people in the prison
with those could have taken out the tank driver and the governor.
end of story! but I know that wouldn't make good TV

(22,340 posts)Andrea (not dead in the comics--and nowhere near as annoying) is a hell of a sniper. And the current badass antagonist has a club wrapped in barbed wire as his weapon of choice.
