Any comments on the game so far? I know some people here hate to see retreads on these reality competition shows. They want new contestants. I think the team choices were interesting. They seem to be teams who were either universally loved or hated in past seasons.

(24,721 posts)I've got the second episode dvr'ed.
I'm not that anxious to see Rachel again. She was on CBS's Big Brother two or three times, now she's appearing for her second try in the Race & she has an incredibly annoying personality. I hope she & Brenden get eliminated asap.

(30,741 posts)because people have not seen both episodes.
Rachel does not bother me. I can't stand those "twinnies" and the mother with her deaf son. I love the cowboys and the Globe Trotters. My husband likes the Afganimals. I think they remind him of some of the young guys who used to work for him before he retired.
I am enjoying the show so far!

(16,334 posts)I don't remember some of the teams but I didn't care for Rachel the first time and don't think she's going to be any better this time. I really liked Mallory and her dad when they competed but she was placed with someone she knew very little about this time and together they had no reason to try very hard IMO. I think when she watches this episode again, she's going to apologize to Mark because she made some mistakes that she didn't own up to during the show.
I gotta say I would be LOST having to put a toy car together. I HATE trying to follow little drawings with a thousand arts. It's just not me. I would immediately jump to the other task!
murielm99
(30,741 posts)I liked Mark and his parter. What a shame things worked out that way for them.
I think Mallory may apologize to Mark, but it may be off camera. She seems like a person who is big enough to acknowledge that she did some harm.

(24,721 posts)Rachel wasn't so bad last night. During the scene when Mark & Mallory were being eliminated, her tears actually seemed genuine -- I'll give her credit for that, but trust me, the season's just begun & there will be opportunities for Rachel to display her "me, me, me" nature.

(7,284 posts)I don't want to be a spoiler so maybe we wait a couple days to consider my carefully phrased question.
Maybe it was the way the episode was edited or maybe mr. swim and I missed something but I didn't understand how the first place team arrived first. This was the bamboo rafting episode.

(42,770 posts)who hurt his leg last time is the creepiest guy. I can't even look at him or listen
to him. gag.
BUT.. WTH happened ? were the other teams floating upstream while these two were walking with that heavy sh&t ?
AND....is what they did "legal" ??? Obviously it must have been - they didn't say they had to start over if they screwed up.
AND..wow- what an amazing mismatch of challenges. no problem at all delivering the stuff - compared to the blow gun deal. But, typically delivering stuff is harder so I can see why some didn't pick it.
UGH...absolutely hate that the whiney father and son won.
BUT...what about the team who lost? GEESH...never saw a team act so ZEN about everything. When they lost their cab...they are like "HO HUM" damnity damn....They didn't even let it phase them that they got kicked off either.
murielm99
(30,741 posts)I, too, was just waiting for them to get a penalty for walking. I hope this sorts itself out in the end. They did not deserve to win that leg.

Dave & Connor managed to float right by the first Detour, arrive at the second Detour much further along, get out and walk the heavy box of supplies back up the river, deliver it, return to their raft and still win the Leg. They made as big a mistake as it was really possible to make within the task -- a mistake that wasn't part of either Detour -- and lost no time. [Does anybody actually understand how that went down? Dave & Connor overshot the first Detour and kept going. The Afghanimals arrived at the Detour and finished it. The Cowboys arrived, the Afghanimals elected not to lie to them and the Cowboys finished. But then Dave & Connor, despite their extra hiking, completed the Detour first. I'm sure there was an easy answer that I missed while half-watching college basketball.]

(42,770 posts)mysteries.
who do you like the most. I like the cowboys -- just for their amazing ability
to solve mechanical type problems. They study it and figure it out...like the
drink pouring deal. Their downfall is typically anything intellectual - which
usually comes at the end. Hope they are taking good notes on all the places
they have been.
If they don't win...would hope either basketball player guys or Afghananimals.

(42,770 posts)gone. And Afghananimals. Boo. Don't care who wins now - except
I hate the father and son.

(3,338 posts)We don't like Dave and Connor either. Dave has a huge ego that drives me crazy. Caroline and Jennifer have been helped the entire race and don't deserve to be in the final 3!
Phentex
(16,334 posts)and seem like really nice people. But they don't seem like the type who would even want a million dollars. I think they did this just for fun.
Laura PourMeADrink
(42,770 posts)methodically figured each one out. I think their failure may have been in their manners. They would never think of like screaming at a cabbie - or knocking someone out of the way to get ahead. They were probably "too nice".
They may have been weaker in the more intellectual type tasks than the mechanical ones though. BUT AR never put a memory challenge in like they always do on the last one. Bet CBs could have won it all if Afghanimals hadn't uturned them.
Phentex
(16,334 posts)I liked the way they came out of the plane for the ending. I thought that was pretty cool. I guess I was ok with the winners compared to the other two. I do want to tell Rachel that plenty of people have kids without winning a million dollars to have them!
Did you watch the finale?
murielm99
(30,741 posts)I was disappointed by who won. I did not like that team at all. I was never satisfied that I understood what happened with them on the rafting challenge. I liked the other two teams better.
I don't understand why everyone gets so upset over Rachel. I find her amusing. She is smarter than most people think. So is her husband. And she accepted things, saying they would wait to have a baby until after his graduation. He is a PhD candidate.
Laura PourMeADrink
(42,770 posts)can talk about something other than his Achilles heal. Gag. I did not know
that Conner almost died though. This year, it seemed there wasn't an extraordinary amount of physical requirements which helped them.
I was actually rooting for Rachel - although that baby stuff got old. Mostly by
process of elimination. They really did well - all in all - since she stopped
whining and crying a lot huh.
The finale was way too super easy to me - compared to years past. Seems they have always included a sequence where they have to remember all the things from the whole trip, right? Figured that would knock the dumb girls out.
I read that Amazing Race planners put a lot of effort into allowing for places where people can catch up - very difficult challenges - where all end up on different footing. Nothing in the finale was like that.
Are they allowed to have maps? Seems the losers always get screwed with directions. They hop in cabs too soon - before they figure out where to go.
