(102,297 posts)I absolutely detest reality tv and that seems to be the majority..... sigh
I might flip on Dallas for nostalgia's sake...

(17,055 posts)one of the best shows on tv, imho.
I never missed the original Dallas (and there was no dvr back then) and have to admit I really, really like the updated version too. John Ross(Josh Henderson) playes such a good bad boy.

(17,055 posts)I think this remake is actually better. However, I could do without the three way sex scenes.

(102,297 posts)I think the production values are so improved, that the old show, at times, seems overly cheesey (and not just because of the over the top clothing and hairstyles--LOL)
I still miss JR, though, even though his eyebrows drove me insane ( ) when he appeared on the new show before his death. I'm glad they continue to talk about him and maintain strong roles for the Bobby and SueEllen characters. I do think they have botched the cameos with Ray and Lucy--leaving them as one dimensional (one-line) figures, with no reference whatsoever to what they've been up to in the intervening years. The lines they were given to deliver were cringe-inducing to me and a real waste.
The new generation of characters are generally good. John Ross and Christopher (and the actress playing Ann, Bobby's wife) are particularly believable as cast. I can't quite decide if it is the Elena Ramos character I don't really like, or the actress that plays her, but I think the latter.
All in all, though, I think it is a good follow-up to an iconic show.

(1,945 posts)I don't expect too much from tv but it looks like they're lowering the standards more than ever.
I might give Outlander a try and will check out Legends as I'm a Sean Bean fan. (I have a suspicion that the series will be short lived. Sorry Beanie!)
BBC shows are usually good so will see what they have to offer there.

(29,675 posts)All the men are pretty wimpy.... Might give it a few more episodes. On a 1 - 5.... I'll give it a 3. So a few more episodes to watch and will rate it again.
