Just when I thought they were going to start getting stale, they delivered again. It's always been a great show that informed on how law firms operate and an insight into Chicago politics, but this season the first show of the season focused on the arrest of Carey, who was framed for drugs.
It walks him through his arrest and processing through his incarceration in jail, bail setting, and generally how all his rights are pretty much ignored and how he is dehumanized in the process. Even though Alicia and her husband are Democrats, they are pretty much third way and are surrounded by conservatives and conservative values, or lack of values.
I really appreciate how the writers get their message through as to how corrupt our system has become. Also it has romance and good story lines as well as memorable characters. That Kalinda is one bad ass with a good heart. Anyone else love this show?

(43,049 posts)I don't see it in political terms. Just one of the better lawyer shows that rises above the others.
What I do see is good writing-- a pile of plot before the opening credits gets your attention.
And yes, Kalinda is a great character.

(3,163 posts)The addition of Taye Diggs is a plus, although I gather he is not permanent.
My guilty secret is that I actually rather like their client Bishop. I'll bet I'm not alone.

(29,067 posts)Love Kalinda, too, although I think they sensationalize her bi-sexuality too much.
She's plenty interesting without that.

First we lost Will. Then we lost Lockhart/Gardner. And now, we just found out that season 6 of The Good Wife will be Kalindas last. Its a shocking loss for longtime fans of the showyet its impact isnt as bad as it could have been. Or rather, it isnt what it would have been just a few seasons ago.
When The Good Wife premiered, Archie Panjabis Kalinda was one of the shows most interesting characters, if not the most interesting. She chose to wear tight leather jackets and knee-high boots to work at the citys most prestigious law firm, and they let her. Why? Because as an investigator, she did whatever it took to discover the truth, and quite frankly, because no one could make Kalinda do anything.
Kalinda didnt mind blurring the line between right and wrong, particularly because it was evident that she was hiding a few (possibly literal) skeletons in her closet. She stood up for herself, and she stood up for her friends. Plus, she was by far the best professional on the show. Without Kalinda, Will and Diane wouldve lost nearly every case they took on. She was morally questionable, unpredictable, yet fiercely loyal at the same time. Combined, those qualities made her unlike anyone else on television, much less any other female character on television.
But somewhere around season 4, when the show attempted to answer a few questions about her past, the intrigue of Kalinda started to decline. With the arrival of Kalindas husband Nick and the exploration of that twisted relationship, Kalinda slipped further away from being the strong, no-bullsh woman she once waseven if her wardrobe never changed. And when she took care of her husband by the end of the year, the Kalinda wed come to know and love had become a thing of the past.

(29,067 posts)and I don't agree that Kahlinda "lost" anything ..I have no idea of what is meant by her
supposedly "taken care" of her husband.

happened to him, he seemed to just get written out of the show.
