I never watched "The Wire" until this weekend, and I am bummed

I sure wish this show would come back, or had more episodes .

We got HBO a few seasons in, and I dismissed it..

What's so sad, is that it's even more relevant now than when it was aired..

You finally got to see it...

David Simon is the writer....he also did On the Corner, and Treme.
He often uses many of the same actors.

Did you get all seasons of the Wire????

I have a small collection of "must haves" and the Wire is one of the vids.
As West Wing, and Newsroom, Treme,

They are very watchable over again, I do it every couple years.
My New years tradition is to watch the entire West Wing series.
Then I cry, for what might have been, but feel better afterwards.

The Wire is certainly one of the greatest shows made. Incredible social commentary throughout, along with amazing acting and writing. I've watched through the series twice now, and I noticed things I missed the first time. Like in the first season, the two screw-up detectives are named Pogue and Mahone. That made me laugh. The theme of the fallibility and corruptibility of systems and institutions seemed to stand out more too.

Another show by David Simon and Ed Burns worth watching is Generation Kill. That's about Recon Marines during the invasion of Iraq in 2004, and based upon book with the same name.
