Survivor Worlds Apart- Episode 7 discussion thread

Survivor, the Island Pushes BACK!!! I feel like this season the wildlife is giving these survivors a hard time. First Max gets attacked by double ray stings. Last night Dan and Jenn must have angered the island gods because Dan gets stung by a jellyfish and Jenn gets stung by a bee near her most private of areas. Ouch!

It was another good episode, and I LOVE when an Idols messes up a sure thing. Its just so much fun to see everyone who was sure they were winning, get let down at tribal. The surprise and anger is just awesome.

So we start off with Rodney pissed about losing his bromance partner Joaquin. Mike tells him the truth, but Rodney is pissed. Will this come back to haunt Mike, because instead of a challenge, we get a MERGE! They get their crate of food and wine to party and are told to go back to the Blue Collar camp. When they get there, its an empty beach. they have to rebuild shelter! I love this twist. I do not think they have done this before. It forced the tribe to work together. Rodney immediately began to look for a way to protect himself and then turn on the blue collars. He works out some deal with Carolyn, Will and Kelly. He clearly did not know about Mike and Kelly. Carolyn also clearly did not like rodney.

After the building of the shelter, the island gods struck Dan with a jellyfish. He is pouring hot water on it and tells them he already peed on it. Mike names the tribe 'Merica, which is kind of dumb IMO. He says its because the colors of the flag are teh same as the tribes, red, white and blue.

The first individual IC is one of my favorites. Hang onto a pole with small foot carveouts and the last one hanging wins individual immunity. From the moment it started, it was clear Dan and Will were not built for this. Both drop in the first minute. Slowly people fall and it is down to 4, Joe, Jenn, Haley and Carolyn. Then Jenn gets stung by a bee. But she scoffs at the island gods and hangs on for awhile longer. Haley drops and then teh rains come. Clearly those island gods are pissed that Jenn did not drop from the bee. Eventually she drops and its down to Joe and Carolyn. Both look like they are in trouble, but in the end Carolyn falls and Joe wins immunity.

He needed it, because Mike and Dan wanted him out. Dan says he thinks they have Will on their side, but to test him, they will tell him to vote out Haley and the rest of Blue will vote of Jenn. If he votes Haley, they will trust him. Tyler does the math and realizes that he and Carolyn are the swing votes. Will they go blue or go with the hippies.

Tribal is fun. Then the crazy talk starts with people saying lines are drawn with a knife, an ice pick in the back, or maybe a chain saw. Wow, these people are violent talkers. Its time to Vote. After the vote, Jeff calls for the hidden immunity idol. For a moment, its quiet, then Jenn says she has an idol and brings it to Jeff. Then the faces show what happened. Blue Collar guessed she did not have one. They were wrong. The votes are 1 vote Haley, 6 votes and the rest Kelly. Kelly is voted out with three votes since Jenn's votes don't count. Jenn made such a good call to use it.

I loved the ending. I think we will have some more shakes ups. this has been a really fun season so far. Who is next. I am hoping Rodney goes, because his act is getting old. But otherwise, I am loving this season. Blue took a big hit with losing Kelly, who was loyal to the group.

...truly one of the most clueless players in quite a while...His accent (still) drives me nuts Bro, and I can't wait to see him eliminated...Dan is pretty clueless as well...

I though Jenn had blown it by using the idol....what do I know...she absolutely read that to perfection....

'Merica....?? Really?? Fucking morons...so if we don't have a christian on their babbling about how the lord is guiding their game, the producers need some red, white and blue chest-thumping instead?

Great season so far...love the blindsides, and at this stage it is (almost) anyone's game...

2. Joe and Jenn survived!

Nagging questions, though.

Did the show reveal why Jenn thought she was the target? I didn't get that sense, and historically at this stage lots of people go down with a hidden immunity idol in their pocket. Very, very fortuitous for Jenn.

And why Kelly? They had a chance to take out Mike or Rodney, greater individual immunity threats. I didn't follow any rationale for this.

Sometimes 'outluck' is the greatest factor?

3. Jenn was just smart

Nothing showed that she was in any danger other than the fact that someone was the target. She did not want it to be her going home. As a fan of the show, she has seen people go home too many times with it in their pocket. She played it, as she should have.

I think the hippie tribe just did not like Kelly. she was totally untrustworthy. Its better to deal with the snake you know. Mike and Rodney did not hide that they were going after a no collar member. Kelly tried to play as a friend.

4. Jenn was really smart!

She had mused about hoping to save the idol for later in the game -- like they all do -- which was why I really expected her to not play the hidden immunity idol.

I guess there might not have been a serious strategy in voting out Kelly or anyone in particular. They didn't have the numbers, and as you say may have just put down the one they liked the least, knowing they had no chance -- and not knowing Jenn had immunity to play?

The hippies need to get organizized. Maybe white collar will flip again, and give them some guidance?

The whites could get better odds with the no collars, and have a hidden immunity to game with.

Banding with Joe and Jenn as 2 strong immunity challengers would not be a bad move, would it? For anyone? I see a white collar - you know who - reading the tea leaves!

(but I wouldn't bet any money on my predictions!)

Staying with Blue collar will get them little in return I think.

Loved when Joe won the challenge, the look on their faces. I find myself drawn weekly to the No collar tribe, even from the first (except for Vince). I do like Tyler and Carolyn but the Blue collar is just not easy for me to like. Perhaps it is all the testosterone that seems to roil around all the time. I live and work with people like this but find them far more likeable than these people.

Still, it isn't about that is it? I am puzzled more this time than other seasons when it all seemed almost routine the way people were sent home. I like that and I LOVE that they can't come back. They are usually gone for a good reason, let them stay gone!

telling Jenn to play the idol. Play the IDOL! lol

Yes, too many go home with it. I thought someone had tipped her off that her name may be written down. And the point is to stay just one more day so we were willing her to use the idol. Plus I liked the fact that she didn't tell anyone she had it UNTIL she needed to use it. That's smart. Too many put a target on their backs by blabbing about the idol early on.

too much fun to watch, lol. The way he frowns, and looks from side to side trying to catch up, is hysterical. I vote for him becoming a running gag this season! Every so often some group should agree to be "led" by him, then at tribal do the thing he's not expecting AGAIN. He is so convinced he's a master planner, he's comedy gold.

I hope the No Collars hang in there. Shirin just voted with them, right? And I'll bet they could pick up Sierra, who has no love for her fellow Blues. If they take back Will, that gives them the numbers (do they even know it was Will who voted for Hali?) Maybe they could capitalize on Rodney's discontent w/the Blues, convince him they need his mastermind...

Then there's Tyler & Carolyn, they have the smarts to cause some damage somewhere. However it shakes out, this is def. the best season in a long time!

10. Rodney the mastermind
Thu Apr 2, 2015, 09:14 PM
Apr 2015

That's what I keep thinking of him as--in the tradition of Secret Agent Philip, I have been referring to Rodney as The Mastermind. What in the heck was he thinking when, after the merge, he forms up his random final four alliance with Will, Carolyn and Kelly? Two of those people he didn't even know yet! They were from the other two tribes, so why would they have any loyalty to him at all? And apparently he didn't get Kelly's alliance with Mike. Geez!

I wonder if Will will switch back to the hippies soon, since he voted for Haley to show the blues/Mike that he could be trusted, then they all voted for Jenn. You could see he was confused about what happened there. Maybe he will figure that he is safer with his original group, which I don't think he will be anyway.

I was so relieved that Joe got immunity. I can't see how he will last being such a strong player but I was holding my breath at the end of the immunity challenge. Definitely a good season so far.

How embarrassing naming the tribe that. My respect for Shirin went up because of her comments regarding bible thumping Mike's idea.

Glad Jen played the idol and Joe is still in it, too. This has been a great season so far! Thanks for posting this thread every week,I really enjoy reading everyone's comments.
