"The Man in the High Castle" - Philip K. Dick's alternate history comes to Amazon

and it's worth watching, partly because one of the production companies is Ridley Scott's Scott Free Productions and of course Ridley Scott directed Philip K. Dick's "Blade Runner".

What if Germany and Japan had won WW2?

The Man in the High Castle's pilot has received critical acclaim. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds an approval rating of 97% with an average rating of 7.8 based on 37 reviews, with the critical consensus "By executive producer Ridley Scott, The Man in the High Castle is unlike anything else on TV, with an immediately engrossing plot driven by quickly developed characters in a fully realized post-WWII dystopia."

Meredith Woerner from io9.com says of The Man in the High Castle "I can honestly say I loved this pilot. It's an impressive, streamlined undertaking of a fairly complicated and very beloved novel." Matt Fowler from IGN gave 9.2 out of 10 and described the series as a "a superb, frightening experience filled with unexpected twists and (some sci-fi) turns." Brian Moylan of The Guardian was positive and praised the convincing depiction and the complex but gripping plot.

and the clothes--love the (civilian) clothes... (ok, that's my thing--highly tailored clothes of the 40s and early 50s)...

But seriously, what an original concept. The cinematography is great, too.

Check it out. I'm actually pleased I coughed up the $99 for prime again this year.

People who go "Waaaaaaaaah JESUS" will get annoyed at the guy in the diner (and isn't his character development arc interesting, I say, though I will give nothing away) and there are a few "convenient" plot goosers that move the story along, but who gives a rat's behind--it's a rip cracking yarn....the SETS, especially NY and San Fran, are GRAND! I love the Japanese style phone booths, the cars, the television choices...! And the FLAG--gaaah...say goodbye to the fifty stars, say hello to the Swastika in field of blue with our original colonial stripes!

Well WELL worth a look--and for anyone who hasn't seen ALPHA HOUSE on PRIME yet, don't miss it. Kelly Ripa's husband reminds me so much of MARCO RUBIO it ain't funny! And John Goodman? SUPERB!

I find it's a very easy way to be wrong! I think religious people and non-religious people run the gamut in terms of attitudes and behaviors.

from the original book.

But it's still fascinating as the writers explore the implications of "what if."

I'm sure I'll watch the next season when it comes out, just to see if it's any better.

I wouldn't recommend it to a sci-fi fan, as it's not really sci-fi, just.. alt history fiction (so far).
