Survivor: Kaoh Rong - Episode Four

Wow! What an episode. I was tired from watching it. Three medical treatments, two people leave the game, one in a medical chopper.

We start with the nerds and Peter still upset from the vote. They try to tell him it was not him, but he knows he is on the outs. then without much more, its reward challenge time. First, this is strange to leap right into it, second, this is the first time they’ve run separate reward and immunity challenges this season. The challenge is an obstacle course that involves a lot of digging in the sand and then bowling balls up into a ski-ball type game platform.

The reward is okay, but one of the weaker ones. Its a full kitchen set with mugs and spices and oils. Second place gets salt and pepper and a wok.

The groups start even, but the jocks pull ahead once the digging starts. Then they can't find the last bag. They are digging forever. 45 minutes into it when the nerds find all of its balls and Peter aces the bowling part, winning reward.

Beauty finds them next, and even though Brawn had two bags fast, they are still looking for number 3. While Caleb is tossing balls, Debbie appears to be in real trouble. She says she is fine but Neil starts to ask JEff for medical. Then, the Credits and Opening Scene!!!! What, this all happened before the credits!!! Wow.

Caleb seems to be good at the ball tossing. The medical personnel tend to Debbie trying to cool her down because she is in heat stroke. Caleb can't get the last ball to drop when Brawn finally finds all its balls. Not before Big basketball star treats little blondie like crap for the millionth time. Its ridiculous how mean the two brawn guys are. They start making a comeback, but Caleb drops the last one for second place.

Medical is suggesting Debbie is OK but are concerned about her heart rate. Suddenly, Caleb collapses. Medical runs over to him and Caleb clearly can not breath. While this is happening, Cydney collapses. Jeff calls in the entire crew to bring fans, umbrellas, water, everything. Medical packs Caleb with ice. Cydney is shivering and they are pouring water on her. Caleb gets an IV to cool his insane body temp and it looks bad. Finally, the doc calls for an evacuation helicopter for Caleb. Caleb is saying NO, but Jeff says its not up to him, its up to the doc. Jeff informs the Beauty tribe and all in tears, even Nick looks like he has some emotions. The screen says that Caleb has fully recovered.

Now I remind you that all of this was for some salt, pepper, olive oil and a wok. Wow.

Meanwhile, Alecia is rightfully pissed at how badly she was treated and fights with the brawn jerks Scot and Jason.

Next up, another challenge. Hopefully no one dies. It a water recovery and puzzle. Long story short, the nerds win, beauty next and the jocks get to finally evict Alecia. Jason and Scot want to vote her out there. She wants to go back to camp. In all my seasons of watching, they've never not shown the strategizing that happens back at camp after an immunity challenge. Its clear that Alecia is totally going home. Its the Tribal ever, Alecia is voted out.

she played badly because she could never get in with anyone, but the tribe men are jerks and deserve to lose. I will miss her, but she did play poorly.

Caleb, I miss you man. You were fun to watch, a great tribemate and a power player. I wish you the best.

Jeff said (on her way out) she was in "Brawn" because there was no backing down in her!

She gave those two big guys pure fits!

With Caleb, two good ones got away - I bet they'll be back one day!

2. Definitely a dramatic episode.

I usually check out a couple of Survivor fan sites after the episodes and one of them stated that it was 118 degrees out there during that challenge!! No wonder they were keeling over. I know that the crews that set up the challenges do a couple of trial runs to be sure that they work right, so you'd think that they would realize how difficult that was. I wonder if this will cause the producers to avoid this kind of thing in future. Maybe run it in the early am or later in the day when it's slightly cooler?

Several people had the opinion that since most everyone likes Caleb and wants to see him again, and he seems to be a good player that he will be back soon. Like VERY soon...the guess was that since it played his comments about being ok and wanting to come back but didn't actually show him saying it, that he might be out filming the show currently in production. (I can't figure out a timeline for when it would be, as the season currently being shown was actually filmed before the Cambodia season that already aired, so I'm not sure that would really work out time-wise.) Anyway, that is just speculation, so not a spoiler.

3. Filming schedule
Thu Mar 10, 2016, 05:35 PM
Mar 2016

depending on location and weather patterns, they film both seasons back to back. Usually starting in between March and June. Typhoon season is avoided at all costs, so location can be a big deal. The decision on airing 31 and 32 reversed is a mystery to me. I am sure one day Jeff or Mark will fill us in on the decision.

Jeff is still in the states, so its not filming now. But at some point soon 33 and 34 will start filming. I would LOVE to see Caleb return. He is hugely popular and was exactly what they want on the show. A good looking, hard playing and genuinely nice man with a big personality to go with his muscles.

they spent so much time on the medical emergencies that I knew tribal was going to be quick.

I was hoping for more of a reaction from Peter but we didn't get too much except "I need a beer."

Alicia did not stand a chance.
