Democratic U.S. Rep. Ron Barber has won the U.S. House seat in
Arizona's 2nd Congressional District.
Barber won a special election earlier this year to fill the rest of Rep.
Gabrielle Giffords' term in Congress. Barber was shot twice alongside
Giffords during an assassination attempt on the congresswoman that
killed six people and wounded many others outside a Safeway store
in Tucson on Jan. 8, 2011.
Since being elected to serve Southern Arizona in Congress, Barber
has worked to keep taxes low for middle class families, protect Social Security
and Medicare, create jobs, support military families and bases and secure the border.
Republican political newcomer Martha McSally's economic proposals have
included cutting federal regulations and lowering taxes.

(70,588 posts).... Ohio is so gerrymander a republican could screw a pig as he
was smoking crack cocaine on the front yard of the County Court
House and still be elected to congress from his district and I
heard Mr. Barber speak 3 months ago on radio and he was very
good.
The house will be much tighter than it was from 2011 to 2013.

But I've learned not to take a leap-of-faith immediately after the first declaration.

And that "article" is seriously lacking in any kind of detail.

I've got my fingers crossed, though.

(33,038 posts)Republican Martha McSally has conceded the race to
represent Arizona's second Congressional District in
Congress to U.S. Rep. Ron Barber.
McSally, a former Air Force pilot, held a news conference
this afternoon to announce she was admitting defeat in
the extremely tight race, where since election day the
two have been running neck and neck. Both were invited
to an orientation session for new members of Congress last week.
McSally said she called Barber to congratulate him today.
She described the race as an amazing journey.
