Anyway, we got over an inch out of it.

(3,163 posts)Being a retired landscaper, I'm in charge of telling the HOA president when to turn off the irrigation when rain is pending, so I told him to leave it off over the weekend. (It would normally run starting at midnight Monday am.) Now the landscapers are all freaked out because the rain stayed south and went to Arizona, and want to know what to do now.
I told them to just chill, and to turn the controllers back on and let it irrigate on Frday morning as usual and that the plants will be fine. They are afraid something might turn brown. I told then, "Look. In nature it doesn't rain on plants every Monday and Friday," and that if anything turned brown it would turn green again after the irrigation ran Friday morning.
That's pretty much what we have to do anyway. Running the cycle takes more then ten hours and we cannot run irrigation between 10am and 6pm, so we can run only two hours during their working times. Having the cycle run at night on a night other than Monday or Friday would mean reprogramming the controllers, twice in fact, and it's not worth the trouble it would take to do that.
