Arkansas officer fired after telling group of black men they 'don't belong' in his city

An England police officer has been fired after a video was posted on Facebook of him telling a group of black men that they “don’t belong” in his city.

Although the video was posted on Tuesday, it was filmed on July 21 by Demarcus Branch in his hometown. He and his cousin Shannon Scribner were in town shooting a music video.

They told us the from the first moments they entered the small town of nearly 3,000 people that Officer Mike Moore was on their heels.

"With all the racial discrimination that's going on across the world, will I be another victim? Will I be a statistic?” Branch asked.

The opening sentence states that he has been fired from the England PD. But there's no further reference to that action, and the two guys who filed the complaint said they released the video because they hadn't heard from the PD.

Also in the article is a statement that this guy had been fired from the Sheriff's office.

Sounds like a real gem.

Lonoke county is a county to the north of England, Ar. Both are to the East of Little Rock.

I don't think I've ever been to England - it's not on the way to anywhere. I assume it's a white flight bedroom community for Little Rock.

Is England a sundown town?

Judging how quick they got rid of the guy, I would guess not that conservative.

it may have just been that the cop was suspicious of people he didn't know. England is a small town and probably doesn't get a lot of outsiders - and these guys were filming something and therefore suspicious.

When you think about it, hassling folks obviously video recording guarantees you will be video recorded.

The cop got fired AFTER the the video was posted on the internet - not when the complaint was made. Nevertheless, the police chief gets some credit for doing the right thing.

the guy being fired from Lonoke

On edit.. most of the small towns don't want the big city type cop, just someone to hand out the speeding and traffic tickets and bust up the ocassional teen drinking party

However, I'm energized.

Attended the Woman's March (Little Rock), the March for Our Lives (Little Rock), and Families Belong Together March (Hot Springs). It's time to march and speak out. The country is at stake.

We're in the minority in Arkansas but we need to make our neighbors know we're here.
