Satanists have wheeled a demonic goat statue onto the lawn of the Arkansas Capitol

The devil went down to ... Arkansas?

The Satanic Temple wheeled its giant statue of the goat-like figure Baphomet onto the lawn of the Arkansas State Capitol Thursday.

The jarring installation is the culmination of the church’s protest against a 2015 bill signed into law in Arkansas that allows “the placement on the State Capitol grounds of a suitable monument commemorating the Ten Commandments.”

Dozens of protestors gathered as the 8.5-foot statue was unveiled, according to a tweet from the scene from a KLRT reporter.

Meanwhile, supporters shouted, “Hail Satan!”

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (News release) - Hundreds were in attendance for the Satanic Temple's Rally for the First Amendment at the Arkansas State Capitol on Thursday afternoon.

The rally, from 1 - 3pm, included The Satanic Temple’s infamous Baphomet statue to the state capitol to support the First Amendment and religious plurality.

Pictures show many difference groups waiting on Lucien Greaves to bring Baphomet to the state capitol steps.

The Arkansas legislature approved the placement of a Ten Commandments monument on government property. After the Arkansas legislature declined a donation from The Satanic Temple, the group filed a lawsuit to have their statue of Baphomet placed on the same grounds.

Today's rally included five speakers: Lucien Greaves, the Satanic Temple’s spokesperson and co-founder; Tonya Hardwick, Chad Jones, Sadie Satanas, and Leewood Thomas.
