Right Wing Watch reports white supremacist arrests in Pope County

Right Wing Watch, a project of People for the American Way, posted an item Friday about the arrests in Pope County of three men identified as participants in a white supremacist organization.

The three were charged with second-degree battery early Friday. The details behind the arrest weren’t available.

Pope County has been a hotbed of neo-Nazi activity, including a demonstration at a Holocaust memorial event in Russellville. A number of white supremacists were implicated in a federal drug and gun indictment in February. It’s somewhat ironic in strait-laced Pope County, where voters have resisted legal casino gambling and the Russellville City Council just refused to allow legal sale of medical marijuana.

One of those arrested appears to be the same person who turned up as a counter-protestor when Arkansas Tech University students held a protest about a college scholarship named in honor of a late history professor accused of having anti-Semitic leanings.
