FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) A former Washington County deputy has been charged with murder, according to a news release from the Washington County Sheriffs Office.
Stevon Grindstaff, 28, was arrested on Monday on first-degree murder and aggravated assault charges.
On December 4, 2023, WCSO reported an officer-involved shooting had taken place the previous night after Grindstaff attempted a traffic stop.
A pursuit took place that resulted in Grindstaff shooting the driver and the driver died at the scene, according to the release.
WCSO asked Arkansas State Police to investigate the incident and Grindstaff was placed on administrative leave pending the results of the investigation.
