just moved here...

buying in Simi Valley, I know, I know, I know....but it works for me. Maybe I like a challenge. I do like the area, physically. Love being near the coast yet near mts. Reagan's shrine is right above my son's apt. complex. It is still a beautiful place to live. I think I will like living on this coast! After growing up in N.C. on the east coast, it's kind of like a closure...

The Simi Valley is very pretty! I'm sure there are some liberals out there...Being near the coast and with the mountains nearby is really wonderful.

You will have some hot days but I don't think the humidity is too bad, but I'm not sure about that...

Anyway, enjoy!

I've been here, living with my son for 3 weeks. I moved from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area of Texas, and I love it here so far. Maybe we can meet up somewhere in between!

Simi is a little to warm for me but really hope you enjoy it. I am near Venice Beach so usually not so hot here.

I'm in West Hollywood where it's usually about ten degrees cooler than Simi Valley. I'd prefer the heat honestly. Moved here from VA almost 20 years ago for college and have no intention of ever going back. Hope you love it here as much as I do!

And remember: when you meet a new person at a party and they ask you which freeways you took to get there, it's not because they're the most boring person on the planet - they're just Californian...

And the one nice thing about the Reagan place, there are benches with a amazing views of the valley.
You've got to stomach a lot of kitsch and misguided kowtowing up there though.

I still have to get my registration for 2 cars, drivers license, changed my insurance (cars & condo). I had to pay to get new keys made for my mailbox, pay for keys and remotes for condo gates...it never ends. But I think I'm gonna like living here a lot!

Have you found Ventura and its glorious beaches yet? I lived in Ventura County for years, and the entire area from Simi on out, is pretty awesome. Be sure to check out Ojai, and downtown Ventura, when you catch your breath from unpacking.

I grew up in LA and have lived in around Pasadena growing up, and all long the coast.. so I'm an unabashed California lover. So congrats!

ETA: I'm a huge fan of City Data for info about new places. The crime rate in Simi in 2010 is about 1/3 the National Average, and politically it's slightly more Democratic, though in 2008, it went decidedly for President Obama. http://www.city-data.com/city/Simi-Valley-California.html

love the beaches. We go out for a few hours every Sat. or Sun. Zuma is also a fave, after breakfast at the Paradise Cove Cafe! Still unpacking (downsizing hurts!) There are so many places to explore around here, and we love the scenery all around the area. Thanks for the congrats!

Midwest. It's getting redder and redder here, plus I miss the coasts. I grew up on the water. I need to get back to a bluer state.
