Early voters in Los Angeles County are casting ballots at a rate four-times higher than they did in 2012 -- perhaps signaling interest is still high in the upcoming presidential primary despite Donald Trumps unchallenged status and Hillary Clintons wide lead over Bernie Sanders.
On Friday, the Los Angeles County Registrar reported that 252 people had voted since Monday -- the first day that early votes could be cast. In 2012, only 72 people had cast ballots in the first week that early voting was available.
On the first day alone this year, the registrar reported 57 people had cast ballots early. That compared to a dozen on the first day of early voting in 2012.
Over the past week, the registrar also began sending out vote-by-mail ballots to 1.65 million residents in the county. Each ballot included for the first time an I voted sticker. Permanent vote by mail residents account for 34.5 percent of the 4.6 million registered voters in the county.

Appears to be a lot of interest/passion in this year's primary.
