Storm surge brings power outages, car crashes and floods South Bay with sewage

A surprisingly strong storm swept through San Diego County Tuesday, causing scores of traffic accidents, leaving thousands without power, shuttering beaches and sinking at least one boat.

The California Highway Patrol reported 364 crashes throughout the county on Tuesday as of 3 p.m. An average day sees about 140 such incidents, according to the agency.
