Voting against Prop. 10, is voting to keep the Republican-imposed restrictions on rent control

it's bad enough that you'd do that.

but please stop pretending your position is actually progressive or informed by posting Republican talking points.

I read that 95% of the state Democratic Party executive committee voted to support 10. That makes sense to me. People of various perspectives can come together and support this modest measure to allow local governments to expand rent control.

there's a law on the books that prevents cities from expanding rent control.

this allows any city to adopt rent control and any city to expand on rent control already in place.

This article in San Diego today says rents are at an all time high...$1,960.

"As of September, average rent increased 5.74 percent in a year. That’s down from 6.36 percent in 2017 and 8.4 percent in 2016. MarketPointe has been producing the report, which comes out twice a year, for more than two decades." The latest MarketPointe study comes as rent control has become a big topic in California. In November, voters will decide on Prop 10, which would lift restrictions on rent control in California cities.

"San Diego is still cheaper than other markets, according real estate website Zumper. Out of 100 cities, San Diego had the 10th highest rent in October with an average $1,840 monthly cost for a one-bedroom (higher than the $1,733 average MarketPointe reported).

The highest markets were San Francisco at $3,650 a month for a one-bedroom; New York City, $2,850; San Jose, $2,470; and Los Angeles, $2,370.

It is losing by 10 points right now largely due to the huge amount of misinformation.

The people outside of my market who were collecting signatures told me that it WAS on the ballot before and was voted down, so this was signature collecting was to get it back on the ballot again. I don't know if this is true or not but it seems to be a "confusion" problem that hasn't improved the second time around

that said my property value would go down by around 20-30,000 if 10 should pass. That would freak out a lot of homeowners.

Partly because of the intrrests: real estate industry versus renters.
