that just because there's no "state income tax" it doesn't mean they don't ding you in other ways - they get their money one way or another

No sales tax their either - except on prepared food. The cost of living there was still very high. Property tax, the cost of electricity, etc. all through the roof.

It's worth it to live here rather than in Shithole states like TX or FL.

I'm so tired of hearing people who live here in CA complain about taxes, Newsom and all of the terrible regulations. The funny thing is these same people never choose to move out of the state they claim to hate so much. Given the admitedly high cost of living here you would think if someone hated it so much here and could move to another state that they think is better they would.

It's also funny how all of these same people clain so many people are moving out of the state yet we are still building more and more houses. Clearly we're not dropping in population (which would be nice).

And there are enormous benefits to living in a state with a health economy. However - CA has been losing some population in recent years. (and the state lost a seat in the House of Representatives following the 2020 census - which is not specifically the same thing, but ...)

One of the blessings in living in the soon to be 4th largest economy in the world is all the useless, worthless Republicans leaving the state. Good riddance, Republicans! What a joy it is to walk into a public place, a bar, a restaurant, a park, etc. and not have to deal with Republicans. Trust me, no decent person likes Republicans as there is no decency in any Republican.

Because Democrats (i.e. California for the greater part) are people-focused.

• When every person
a. is guaranteed rights, opportunity, and equity,
b. can make a good living,
c. is respected,
    then all benefit and the nation benefits.
• Government invests in its citizens.
• Labor and innovation create wealth.
• Productivity gains are shared with those who are less blessed than others.
• Government is by the people and for the people.
• The legal system protects rights, especially of minorities.
In short: equality, honor and fairness.
And I know, there's a lot more we need to do!


The thugs believe in the converse.
• Money and power are concentrated in the hands of a few.
• Business grows by monopoly aggregation and by stifling competition.
• Freedom means no regulation. Nothing more.
• Government enforces "the economic order" (a caste system)
• Workers and voters are kept from uniting, chiefly by a divide and conquer strategy, i.e culture wars.
• Welfare for the rich. The fraud called "Trickle Down" really means "golden showers". (wink, wink)
In short: inequality, arrogance and privilege

You must choose wisely.

Especially near the coasts. Makes tax rates just a part of being able to afford to live here. Our insurance rate went up 37% this year.
