Kim Nguyen calls on M Steel to Return MTG Contribution

TheLiberalOC

After reporting this morning [4/18] in the Sacramento Bee revealed that Rep. Michelle Steel accepted money from embattled, antisemitic Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene — who endorsed a “national divorce” of red states from the union and sided with an alleged leaker of top secret national documents — Councilwoman and congressional candidate Kim Bernice Nguyen called on Rep. Steel to return the donation.

“Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene’s toxic brand of MAGA extremism, conspiracy theories, and antisemitism have been roundly rejected by voters and are out of step with the values of Orange and LA County families. Further, her defense of an alleged traitor who leaked top secret documents has been condemned by many in her own party, including Sen. Lindsay Graham who called her ‘terribly irresponsible.’ Michelle Steel needs to return this donation immediately and speak out against hateful language and coup-inciting rhetoric.”

Rep. Greene pledged to donate $275,000 to the NRCC back in February. Calls on Michelle Steel to reject those donations were met with silence, all the while Steel was pocketing $2,000 directly from Greene, signaling she cares more about the MAGA movement and less about the values of families back home.

CA-45 is one of the top pickup opportunities for Democrats in 2024. It is a Biden +6 district with a Democratic registration advantage of 5.6%. Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) and Latino voters are a majority of the district at 51.6% – with Vietnamese voters making up the largest block of AAPI voters at 58.4%.

That she accepted money from that ignorant MAGA harridan makes my blood boil.

Her predecessor, Harley Rouda, is a Democrat, and is running again for the seat.

I'm not so sure that the large Vietnamese population helps us. Steel says that "her unique background has helped her relate to the Vietnamese diaspora."

“We have to empower everyone, especially the first generation, to achieve their American Dream like I did. . . . I want all of the Vietnamese community to achieve their dreams too.” https://bit.ly/3mIxZl9 Jan 24, 2023

She talks a good game.

Former Rep. Harley Rouda has dropped out of the race for California’s 47th congressional district on the advice of his doctors.

The Laguna Beach Democrat, who launched a 2024 bid for the seat in January, fell late last month, he said on April 11, and suffered a moderate traumatic brain injury. Rouda was treated at a hospital, he said, and had two intraparenchymal hemorrhages, a brain bleed — “a concerning diagnosis to say the least,” Rouda said.

“Thankfully, my doctors say that I have started on the path to a full recovery,” Rouda said. “But on their advice, I am ending my campaign for California’s 47th congressional district today. This is not the outcome I wanted. But my family comes first, and to be there for them, I need to focus fully on my recovery in the months ahead.”

I'm not clear on your Vietnamese population opinion, but anyway, Kim has that covered:
The daughter of a Vietnamese refugee and a Mexican immigrant, Kim Bernice Nguyen was the first in her family to graduate high school and college. At just 25, she won a historic election as the youngest person and first Latina ever elected to the Garden Grove City Council. A leader on women’s issues, Ms. Nguyen has stood up to harassment and sought equality and justice throughout Southern California and has fought to ensure that immigrants, like her parents, have the dignity and opportunity to succeed in our communities. A homegrown leader, Ms. Nguyen attended Clinton-Mendenhall Elementary, Doig Intermediate, and Santiago High School. As a healthcare expert, she will bring a much-needed public health background to Congress.
