It's October in Southern California, my favorite time of year here. The crowds are gone from the beaches, but the weather is still like summer with no June gloom. Here's some pics I took with my cell phone while hanging out at Bolsa Chica State Beach on Sunday afternoon. The surf was flat but still a great day to just chill.

(106,886 posts)Up my way it's cooled off, but September / early October was a CA coast summer.

(26,602 posts)Crowds are gone, the water is as warm as it's going to get, and as clear as it gets in the year, and the weather is consistently good.
One of the things that makes me happiest about being at a school on the quarter system is that I don't have to go back until late September, when all those semester-school people (and the K-12s) have been locked up since the end of August...

(51,571 posts)September was so warm and nice. Hope you were able to enjoy it before hitting the books. But even now that classes have started, try to squeeze in some beach time in between classes. It is even quieter during the weekdays and is a great place to get your reading done. It sure beats the college library.
