even in Clovis (Fresno) CA, Brave protesters at Walmart on Black Friday

these brave protesters are in the Heart of the Beast.

Protesters held signs in front of the Shaw avenue Walmart in Clovis today (Black Friday) as part of a nationwide effort to hold Walmart accountable for low wages.

Our Walmart member Anthony Goytia said “I am a father of three. With the insufficient hours and the low pay that I get at Walmart, I will make around $12,000 this year. I don’t need cable or to own a house, but I shouldn’t have to rely on food stamps or donate plasma just to feed my kids when I have a job.”

ahhh.. they buried it in the Business section.

Walmart workers' protest includes Clovis store

About two dozen protesters armed with handmade signs and printed fliers gathered on Black Friday morning in front of the Walmart store at Shaw and Peach avenues in Clovis.

The protest, organized by labor unions, was one of many at Walmart stores nationwide in support of the company's employees. The sign-wavers are pushing for Walmart to increase its wages and benefits for employees.

"The workers are afraid to speak out against Walmart," said Georgette Carrillo, a Fresno resident and member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Carrillo held a sign that read "Walmart costs taxpayers billions."

Carrillo said the sign refers to low wages and benefits that she said force some workers to rely in taxpayer-subsidized public support.
