California adds 4,000 jobs in February

By Alejandro Lazo
March 23, 2012, 8:53 a.m.

California’s unemployment rate remained unchanged at 10.9% in February even as the state added thousands of new jobs.

The percentage of jobless workers held the same as January, though it was down from 12.0% in February last year.

The rate remained the same even as the state added 4,000 total jobs in February, according to the California Employment Development Department. The state has gained a total of 333,100 jobs since the recovery began in September 2009.

I find the cut in government employment significant. Lots of cuts due to shrinking revenues, even in my small county.

...we probably lost jobs. 4,000 is a flash in the pan and considering those they don't count, we probably lost a significant amount too.

I'm a big Obama supporter, but that is one line I can't take bait and sinker. Yes there are some signs of stabilization, but if there's a recovery its countered by stagnation.
