Caltech again ranked world's top research campus by British magazine

For the fourth year in a row, Caltech is being rated the best research university in the world by the Times Higher Education magazine of Great Britain, according to a survey released Wednesday.

Three other California schools were in the journal’s top dozen: Stanford, ranked fourth; UC Berkeley, eighth; and UCLA, 12th.

The Times Higher Education listing emphasizes research and research reputation more strongly than some other rankings of universities. Among its scoring categories are income from research, the amount of faculty research published in scholarly journals and the number of international students and faculty.

After the Pasadena campus, the rest of the magazine’s top 10 in "World University Rankings" are Harvard, the University of Oxford, Stanford, the University of Cambridge, MIT, Princeton, UC Berkeley, with Yale and Imperial College of London tied at ninth.

Caltech. Everything paid for, all he had to do was study and make the grade. Well, the night before our commencement ceremony we went to a (at that time) little known stretch of beach for the traditional graduation wienie roast and bonfire. A buddy of mine had been given a lid of some skunk weed for a graduation present. So he spent all night making joints and sharing them with the rest of the party guests.
Mr. Full Ride takes his first hit off a joint and he was transformed, he couldn't believe that he was high. He spent all night trying to convince us that he wasn't high. We kidded him about it the next day at the commencement. After that I never saw him again (its been 38 years) but Mr. Skunk Weed and I were at a bank a couple of years later. Mr. Full Ride's sister was the teller. So we asked how's Full Ride doing? She said, 'that idiot was kicked out of Caltech for selling weed.
What you gonna do?

afterwards he was out in front. I got up close and saw him "say" "I'm pleased to meet you" to a girl who had the same disease. It took him a couple of minutes to get the computer to say that. There was a sensor aimed at his eye and he had to twitch the corner of his eye to signal to the computer his intentions.
