Related: About this forumStorm-battered roof collapses onto produce section at Safeway in East San Jose
http://www.mercurynews.com/news/ci_27120248The produce section at an East San Jose Safeway got more than its usual misting Thursday when a storm-battered roof collapsed, exposing a 50-square-foot section of the store.
No one was seriously injured when the roof gave way about 4 p.m. at the store at East Capitol Expressway and Silver Creek Road, said Capt. Christopher Salcido, spokesman for the San Jose Fire Department.
The partial collapse, which also produced a 75-foot-long crack in the roof, was spotted with enough notice that an evacuation order ensured everyone inside, patrons and employees alike, got out safely....
Salcido said early Thursday evening that the custody of the damaged building -- new natural skylight and all -- had been turned over to the owner. Structural engineers were also summoned to the site.

It's the clogged drains behind the parapet wall that are the problem. If they aren't routinely maintained, they clog up and create a lake, a heavy lake.
