Organic Farmer in CO asks for public help on Reddit to prevent fracking on surrounding land

We just watched "Gasland" the other night, so when I saw this on Reddit this morning, I hoped that reposting this farmer's plea on DU might yield other suggestions or help or there might be DUers in that area who could even participate in the public discussion on this. I've inserted links in places where they were hyperlinked text in the post.

Original Post:
Help, Reddit! The Bureau of Land Management in Colorado is trying to lease 30,000 acres for fracking, including land completely surrounding the farm I live on!

The Bureau of Land Management in Colorado is attempting lease 30,000 acres of farmland and wilderness for fracking in the North Fork Valley. The BLM somewhat suspiciously pushed this through over the holidays, and the public comment deadline is January 9.

This land in question is smack dab in the middle of a vibrant organic farming community and will obviously affect the irrigation and drinking water of hundreds of farms and homes, not to mention the air/light/ground pollution, etc fracking brings.

I live on a beautiful organic farm in the area which relies on its pristine watershed, as do all the other farms along the entire valley.

Any advice, angles on precedents, or other ideas? Anyone willing to help sign/spread the info?

Details and BLM contact info on this page: http://www.blm.gov/co/st/en/BLM_Information/nepa/ufo/august_lease_sale.html

edit: thanks for the comments so far. please keep them coming. my fiancee will be taking them to a town-hall meeting tonight. there is precedence of towns battling back and I want us to be one of them.

corporate machine people. I sometimes think they actually WANT to destroy nature and its beauty. Or maybe they just don't have the faculties to be aware of it at all?

Thanks for this post. An interesting approach to raising awareness and hopefully activism.
