Have you seen the upstairs of Union Station lately? Potbelly, Chipotle, one of those conveyor belt sushi places.

Supposedly NoMa will be getting a movie theater Real Soon Now; until then the closest one to the eastern half of the city is E Street.

Mostly I do the Uptown in Cleveland Park.

DuPont's theater is gone, Pentagon City's is gone, Visions is gone... everything is the big 100-screen stuff out in the burbs

Did see Very Best Marigold ... on E.Street, and go to Avalon when I can.DuPont's is gone too??? Obviously have to get back into walking around town. DARN retirement!

Wanted to take a friend to Uno's upstairs, and to see the train downstairs, hence my question about movies.

It's sort of the southern capstone of the NoMa development project (can we please beat whoever came up with that name? The neighborhood already had a name, Swampoodle, and it was a cool name).

Plus just a few blocks north there are some nice-ish restaurants between Mass Ave and NY Ave on 2nd St.

like SoHo? etc???
Was in a 2d St. restaurant a few years ago, but worked at 12/Constitution and then 8th/Penn, so knew restaurants around there. AND VERY sad when French ? place at 12th/Penn closed, but that was too long ago!!! Great steak/frites!

There's a big water tower by the Greyhound station that says "NoMa". And the former NY Ave/Gallaudet metro stop is now just "NoMa". Sigh.

(That reminds me... my favorite brunch place in NYC is actually on Houston, so I call that area @Ho.)

The city's changing... I'm going to miss it, since I'm moving to Mumbai in the fall.

I'll mostly be working on my novel and making kites I sell on Etsy, I guess, since we don't have a reciprocal work agreement with India.

Currently I'm "Capital City Kiteworks", but I found a better name for my next line from India, "Bandrami Kites". The Bengali word for monkey is "bandar", so "bandrami" is the Bengali word for "stuff a monkey does", or more colloquially "monkey business". I'll be sourcing natural materials from the subcontinent and hand-sewing everything.
