from Capital Weather gang:JUST IN: We've INCREASED our snowfall accumulation forecast

for Tues afternoon. Now expecting Coating to 2" along I-95 corridor, and 1-3" to the east. Snow could be HEAVY from 3 to 6p on Tues.

National Weather Service has EXPANDED winter weather advisory to cover Montgomery and Fairfax counties, in effect noon to 7p Tues.

Given possibility of HEAVY snow between 3 and 6p Tuesday, consider leaving work early - BEFORE 3 p.m., or delaying - AFTER 7 p.m. to avoid the possibility of heavy traffic and possible gridlock.

Note- we also anticipate some schools may dismiss early on Tues and many will cancel after school activities.

I was stuck in the commute from hell in January 2011 coming from Baltimore down to Arlington. It took me 7 hours one way. I've taken radical action to completely rearrange my life to make sure to avoid that ever again.

My plans tomorrow involve metro and leaving work early to telework from home. Neither of which were options for me a few years ago.

I was stuck on a bus from downtown to home in NW DC for ???? hours, not sure the year.

Daughter's 2d birthday party 'hampered,' Jan 22, 1987, due to BIG snow, lucky I'd made the cake! Cousins couldn't make it through, from Kensington.

Retired in southern MD now, so will be home 'alone!'
