Its another beautiful spring morning, and the cherry blossoms are still in full bloom. There are more petals on the ground now, and when you look closely you can find green leaves poking through on more branches, but overall the blossoms are still in their prime.

(38,958 posts)sounds like a good time. I was hoping to go to DC the week after Easter, but plans fell through this time, probably for the best in the long run. I have the first of my tulips blooming and we have snow predicted for Monday Night? Will this Winter ever end????

(130,964 posts)I expect to enjoy it, as I usually do. Have lived in DC or environs since '78, and have gone over regularly. Last year, met a friend there, and was a VERY hot day. Today's one of those, 84+, but tomorrow the high will be more like 78. Rain expected Tuesday, and high closer to 68. NO snow predicted here!
Have a new camera now, so looking forward to using it!

(130,964 posts)Crowds OK? Was there last year in a very hot day, and am happy to wait til tomorrow, and MAYBE smaller crowds.

(12,448 posts)And my cellphone camera is useless, so no pics. The crowds were wicked! I took metro and made the mistake of getting off at Smithsonian. Do not do this! Federal Triangle should work fine. Even Metro Center would probably be better than Smithsonian.

(130,964 posts)thinking/hoping/wishing crowds won't be as bad as weekends but, as much as I don't care for crowds, I'm trying to shorten my walk, so probably won't do Federal Triangle.
Backatcha later, with pics I hope!

(40,416 posts)It's nice to see flowers blooming. Meanwhile here in rural Michigan we have flooding from the snow melt and horrendous thunderstorm yesterday. I went out today and glubber bulb blub bloop. Thank goodness I thought to bring my snorkel.

(40,416 posts)I know it well.
And Traverse City was always a great place with lots of fun visits. (At least until Illinois yuppies discovered it.) Still, there must be great places around. Haven't been there for years.

(130,964 posts)essentially stayed at the lake, so didn't run into any hippies!

(14,733 posts)but my black lapin's are a bit slow, with just a few blossoms here and there, mostly just budding leaves. We've got visitors coming this week, so we suspect they'll get to see full on blossoms while they're here.
