I remember the tornado that hit in the early 90s. It was unreal in DC, power lines down

Until I read an article a few years ago I didn't realize that tornados rise up so quickly

(41,132 posts)1. I remember the tornado that hit in the early 90s. It was unreal in DC, power lines down
and electricity out for 4 or 5 days. We were getting ready to go to a center for ice when the power came back on. Tornados have hit southern MD as you know.

I checked about here, where I am, southern MD, 'occasional thunderstorms likely to begin at 11:30 pm.'

so it's hard to give much warning and they're pretty unique to the US. In recent years many weather experts are very concerned how tornados are moving south and east, away from the Tornado Alley Midwest, and the harm they could do to large metro areas like Memphis, Atlanta, even DC and others. Glad things are well in So. Md.
