Good riddance: "Florida, say farewell to Allen West"

http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/the-buzz-florida-politics/florida-say-farewell-to-allen-west/2219403

Ran into Allen West, the bombastic former Florida congressman, at CPAC and asked him if he's still looking to run for Senate if Marco Rubio runs for president.

"I'm no longer a Florida resident," he said, ribbing a reporter for "not keeping up."

West said he left the Sunshine state on Christmas Eve and he now lives in Dallas, where he's president of the National Center for Policy Analysis.

Sounds impressive. You'd think they could find someone more qualified to lead it. But then again, the job he did working for the Government makes a case for privatization.

They always come up with "impressive" names but that sham outfit, that runs seminars named after racists of no small renown, is basically a way to shovel money to acolytes who can be relied upon to deliver a verbal beat-down when the GOP needs it.

Let's be clear, here--he is working for the Koch Brothers. That "think tank" he's President/CEO of runs a lecture series named after a virulent racist, too:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatton_W._Sumners

Sumners ran for and was elected to an at-large seat as a Democrat to the Sixty-third Congress, taking office on March 4, 1913. He was the first of the 132 freshmen congressmen in the that Congress to get a bill through the House; the bill made Dallas a port of entry for customs.[2] In 1914, he ran for the 5th District congressional seat which included Dallas, Ellis, Rockwall, Hill, and Bosque counties and he was elected.[2]
Early in his career, he spoke out against the Dyer Anti-Lynching Bill, claiming that the bill's sponsors did not have adequate statistics to prove their case, that the bill would increase racial mob violence, and that the bill ultimately impinged on states' rights.[3]
Speaking on the House floor while some African-Americans watched from the balcony, Sumners continued to attack the Dyer Anti-Lynching Bill with racist tropes. "Only a short time ago... their ancestors roamed the jungles of Africa in absolute savagery…[Y]ou do not know where the beast is among them. Somewhere in that black mass of people is the man who would outrage your wife or your child, and every man who lives in the country knows it." [4] [5]

Could the scenario possibly be more ... offensive?

Another do-nothing job for a do-nothing politician.
He'll fit right in in the Texas GOP.

Allen West, President & CEO
National Center for Policy Analysis CEO Allen West is a Fox News Contributor, a Senior Fellow at the London Center for Policy Research, and the author of Guardian of the Republic.

In case anyone is confused, he is essentially employed by the Koch Brothers, who fund the NCPA.

The National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA) is a free market think tank primarily funded by private foundations established by wealthy conservative business families and billionaires, including Charles and David Koch. It is a "communications and research foundation dedicated to providing free market solutions to today's public policy problems ... [and] prides itself on aggressively marketing its products for maximum impact by 'targeting key political leaders and special interest groups, establishing on-going ties with members of the print and electronic media, and testifying before Congress, federal agencies, state lawmakers, and national organizations.'" -- NCRP, The Strategic Philanthropy of Conservative Foundations[1]It develops and promotes private, free-market alternatives to government regulation and control, and encourages reliance on the private sector.[2]

and get enough mojo to show some "normal" type Texans to open their eyes to this piece of crap and SEE what kind of damage he's done in the past!

Nah, sorry that's just a pipe dream of course, unfortunately Texas is almost too far gone to see any normalcy or real reality anymore. I kind of grew up in Texas and go back for class reunions to this day and wonder WHY I keep doing it. Not that Florida is much better, but at least here I can ride my bike to the beach. How did I get lucky enough to spend most of my life in these two states??

I do offer my apologies to all the Texans who are progressives, but I wonder when either of these states can find a way to normalcy. I've been trying very hard to accept what's happening, and of course it's not only FL & TX, it seems this country has devolved into ignorance. For my sanity I do stay informed with political issues but have made a concerted effort NOT to get into the fray because I've found too many people don't give a shit!

It's been extremely hard, but I've had to face a certain reality that I have to let the generations of NOW to stand up and make their voices heard. As a Boomer I lived in a different world even though there was much upheaval we did seem to have a voice in what was happening. Now, I'm almost a freak and rarely do people want or care to even engage in where we're going as a country. I can honestly say I've tried so very hard to stay engaged, stay active and try to make a difference. What I find most of the time is that I'm the last one standing! Mostly told that I only have "X" amount of years left so I should just STOP twisting myself into knots and just find another way to live a life less stressful!

Of course what they're mostly saying to me is to 'SHUT UP" we're tired of looking at reality, you're Debbie Downer... just go away! I KID YOU NOT!!

Okay, just unloading a bit!
