Orlando Sanford International Airport chief says he will retire
Larry Dale, who has served as the president and chief executive officer of the Orlando Sanford International Airport for nearly 14 years, said he will retire in September..
"I think I've had a good and long career," Dale said today. "I'm still young enough, and healthy enough, to go out and do the things I like to do."
Dale, 67, first announced that he was stepping down at a recent airport authority board meeting. He said he will finish out the remainder of his three-year contract with the airport, which pays him more than $260,000 a year.
Moments after Dale's announcement, board chairman Frank Ioppolo Jr., asked the board's legal counsel to bring a report to the next board meeting on April 7 on how to move forward with selecting a replacement for Dale.
