Miami, Tampa among the most roach-infested areas in the country

They flock here like retirees. You see them in the kitchen, the bathroom, hanging out under the palm tree next to the lanai. They fill their little motels to the max, no vacancy.

Cockroaches.

Eek!-Blech!-Gross! … Oh dear lord there's another … maybe it's just a palmetto bug … cockroaches (scientific name, from the Latin for "horrific insect.&quot . The big kind and the little kind. The red ones and the brown ones. The ones with all the legs and the ones with tiny wings, too. Tampa Bay's got 'em in abundance.

So much that the U.S. Census Bureau in its latest American Housing Survey found that Tampa and Miami are among the roach-iest metropolitan areas in the nation. More so than New York or Houston.

"At some point you're going to have them," said Carol Brown, general manager at Chet's Termite and Pest Management. "It keeps us in business."

The climate also draws a bevy of other insects, which provide a food source to omnivorous roaches.

No one picks up after themselves. There's litter all over the place. Even the public parks are a disgrace. For a city that's all about tourism they sure as hell don't give a damn about cleanliness. And don't get me started about those little dog owners who don't pick up after their dogs!

I've been to third world countries that are neater than this place!

awful!
Tampa doesn't look so bad, but I never lived there so I can't really make a fair judgement.
I heard that they're building a new super mega mall in north Miami area. Umm.. Maybe they should clean the city up a bit, and address the traffic issues, rather than building more malls! Lol its almost comical what's happening down there

instead of near downtown: keep it away from the traffic and the roaches! But the city is already in the dump, especially when they turned the only highways that go east and west into toll roads! Rumor has it they're gonna raise the tolls!

I'm glad I only work around here and not live like I used to.
