I know this sounds comical, but seriously, FYI to all visitors who are unaware of this strange happening... Please avoid walking under high tree branches tonight and in the morning. Due to our recent increase in the iguana population and the fact that they do not tolerate our cold spells, they "pass out" when the temps reach a certain low.
Do not touch them even if they appear dead. Some are, as they hit roads and pavement, but some will survive. Just ask the guy who threw them in his back seat on the way to the dumpster.

(12,392 posts)Our Montessori school had so many that they were defecating on the kids in the playground. And yes, their feces is loaded with salmonella and other goodies.
Thank you to the folks who brought them to the Keys!

I run right past them. Most are dead once they hit pavement.

(16,296 posts)I was at a resort sprawled out on a lounge chair surrounded by coconut trees , enjoying a Gulf of Mexico sunset when a waiter told me I should move because it was that time of year when the coconuts fell. The day before one fell and sent a tourist to the hospital. God forbid they should put a sign warning of such.

However, no one can predict falling iguanas.
