Florida man shot in Wyoming home invasion attempt

A Florida man was shot in the chest when he tried to force his way into a home on the Welch-Pineville Road.

Julio Alonso, 56, of Jacksonville, Fla., was flown to a Charleston area hospital following the shooting, according to Wyoming County Sheriff C.S. Parker.

Just before noon Wednesday, Parker said Alonso broke into a car parked in the driveway, and was beating the dash with the rock he had used to break all the windows.

When the homeowner warned Alonso to get away from the car, Alonso then ripped the screen from a window on the house.
