Scott blasts Nelson, Obama for not doing more on Zika

WASHINGTON — Florida Gov. Rick Scott lashed out at the Obama administration and Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson on Tuesday for not doing more to help the state combat Zika.

“The time for politics is over,” the Republican governor told reporters on Capitol Hill, accusing Democrats of inaction on the growing crisis.

He said Nelson “turned his back on Florida citizens” by joining other Democrats last week in blocking a GOP Zika funding bill that included unrelated provisions they oppose.

Scott also took aim at administration officials, saying they didn’t move quickly enough to meet the state’s request for resources to battle Zika.

He's right in lashing out for not getting necessary funds to deal with Zika. The problem is, he's lashing out at the wrong people! It was HIS good Repiglican buds in the Repuglican controlled congress who wouldn't approve the funding REQUESTED by Obama!

He created the problem and expects others to bail him out. What a weasel (R).

He defunded the state agency that fought mosquitoes and fired the employees.
He cut their budget and shut down two mosquito control research facilities and
now wants the Feds to bail him out.

A small contingency fund was available if needed but it was used for purposes
other than mosquito control ... "And indeed, year after year, Scott and the
Republican-controlled Legislature have raided the trust fund to plug other
holes in the budget at the same time they’ve cut taxes and fees for other
programs and special interests."
