Former softball league president pleads guilty to pocketing money
Just eight months after his arrest, the former president of a suburban West Palm Beach girls softball league pleaded guilty this week to stealing money from the organization.
Timothy Martin, 52, pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts of grand theft and one count of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. For each count, the Greenacres man was sentenced to 15 days of jail-time and five years probation, without adjudication. All punishments were to be served at the same time, court records show. The court credited him for the time he already spent in jail.
Martin was the president of the Lake Lytal Lassie League, which is based on Gun Club Road. He also is a building mechanic with the Palm Beach County School District and was the Forest Hill High softball coach until his resignation in 2015.
The former league president was released from jail Wednesday. He did not respond to a request for comment. His attorney, Thomas Ali, declined to comment.
