ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Police in Florida released surveillance video showing an alleged drink driver falling out of his pickup truck and running over his own leg.
The Florida Highway Patrol released surveillance footage Monday showing William Edwards, 28, leaving the Dancer's Royale strip club in Orlando about 2:15 a.m. Oct. 25 and getting into his Ford pickup truck.
Club security said they tried to stop Edwards, a regular at the club, from driving because he had been drinking heavily.
The footage shows Edwards start to drive away with the door of the pickup ajar, but he quickly falls out the door and the truck runs over his leg.

(12,158 posts)Our driveway in flat city, Houston, was rather steep. I pulled in in our Ford Econoline van with a manual transmission. I stepped out of the door and the van began to roll backwards towards a car parked across the street. I reacted by pulling the emergency brake hard. The van stopped, yes it did, it stopped on top of my foot. The pain was enormous. What to do. I was on the horns of a dilemma. If I released the hand brake would I be able to hold the van back?
I braced my shoulder against the door jam and released the brake. I had no trouble keeping the van from rolling backwards because it wasn't rolling at all. I put one hand on the brake and pushed the van backward off my foot with my butt and then pulled the brake.
I don't know why no bones were broke but my foot hurt like Hell. Always put your shifter in reverse or 1st gear when parking, DUH!

(112,399 posts)Yeah, it might have been preferable if you had the excuse of being drunk when that happened.
Oddly enough, the only time this Texas Man had a moving violation and collided into another car was when I wasn't behind the wheel and was trying to push start a vehicle. My car went down an incline and hit another vehicle. Add another incident when I broke my arm push starting my friends truck and I've come to the conclusion that I'm never going to push start a vehicle ever.
