State attorney weighs charges in Flagler school bomb threat case
BUNNELL - The State Attorney's Office is considering felony charges against two Flagler County high school students linked to a Sept. 7 bomb threat at Bunnell Elementary School and a detailed plan to conduct a coordinated plot against Flagler Palm Coast High School.
The Flagler County Sheriff's Office referred the charges Wednesday following a months-long investigation. The State Attorney's Office now will determine whether to move forward with the cases.
State attorney spokesman Spencer Hathaway was unable to comment on the case Thursday. He said if a case remains within the juvenile justice system, his office would not be able even to confirm that the case exists.
The incident began with an emailed threat sent from a student's school email account, which was received at Bunnell Elementary, according to a statement from the Sheriff's Office. The following day, the threat was determined to be unfounded.
