Women's Rally of Central Florida draws thousands at Lake Eola
It's in Patricia Gray's blood to fight for what she believes in.
After all, the 27-year-old's great-great grandmother was a suffragette, her grandmother was an educated white woman in Louisiana who fought for desegregation during the Civil Rights Movement and her mother fought for women's rights in the 1970s.
"I'm here because I have a 10-year-old niece and I don't want her growing up in a world where this is the norm," said Gray. "And it's not OK to talk about women like this."
When Gray discusses "the norm" and how people are talking about women, she's talking about President Donald Trump's objectification of women and any political stance that belittles women.
Gray, standing by her mother, was one of thousands of people to descend on Lake Eola Park in downtown Orlando Saturday for the Women's Rally of Central Florida, an event supporting more than 600 similar marches around the country, including the Women's March on Washington.
