Florida
Related: About this forumFellow Florida homeowners: which home insurance company do you recommend ?
This is what I need:
1- Reasonable price
2- Not worried about flood plain coverage
3- Not near an Atlantic or Gulf beach
4- Covers expenses if your home is completely totalled (not just replacement of the structure)
Can #1 be combined with #4, or do you pay a huge price to cover your expenses during the weeks your home is being rebuilt ?
Thanks in advance. I currently have coverage, but it does not have #4.

(14,732 posts)Since the hurricane losses some years ago from Andrew many insurers dropped out of the homeowners' insurance market in Florida. Not a whole lot of choice.
Switched to them a couple of years ago after a disagreement with Tower Hill; ASI has a decent reputation and their rates were even lower for equivalent coverage.

(8,904 posts)so I dropped their auto coverage. AAA offered homeowners if you brought your autos as a package deal. You might check into them. I'm 40 ft above sea level, not a flood zone. I wrote Allstate a nastygram when dropping the auto insurance, as if they cared.
The policy does have loss of use coverage.

Not sure about #4, I have flood insurance. My insurance incl. flood for my house is about $2100 a year. I don't know if that's good or bad but it is what it is. Also I had just shy of a $30,000 claim pay out literally 1.5 months after buying the house because of a break in and my rates went up by $18 a year, which I thought was pretty awesome.
