AVE MARIA -- U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos delivered the commencement address to a welcoming crowd Saturday at Ave Maria University.
In her roughly 20-minute speech, DeVos focused on the teachings of religious figures, including Jesus Christ, former Pope John Paul II and Mother Teresa, and emphasized the importance of service to God, country and neighbor.

But Noell McMahon, a literature major, said she was disappointed by the speech, which she felt focused too heavily on the importance of service a value that has already been deeply ingrained into each Ave Maria student, she said.
I expected more inspirational advice, she said.
Nichols, Antoine, McMahon and other students interviewed by the Daily News said they were not familiar with DeVos policies.

The rigors of academia are an obvious strain on the students since they are unfamiliar with DeVos' policies.

(40,416 posts)World headquarters in AmWay, Michigan (aka Grand Rapids -- where they still pull in the sidewalks on Sundays). Half the big buildings in downtown Grand Rapids are named DeVos.
Remember, no number of good deeds will save your miserable, predestined at birth soul from eternity in Hell-fire. She even graduated from Calvin College. She's a true believer, just the kind of person one wants far, far away from government office.
