Florida
Related: About this forumFlorida ranks as one of the worst states for teachers.
The low pay and micromanagement by administrators and bureaucrats is out of control.
Please GOTV for Gillum/King if we want any hope for change.
We have a statewide shortage of 4,000 teachers. I suggest if youre a college student studying to teach, CHANGE YOUR MAJOR NOW!
I can not recommend teaching as a career option in FL!

So unless a teacher has a vitamin C deficiency, don't get a job teaching in Florida!

(36,829 posts)Diane Tirado doesnt believe in giving credit where its not due. The school she used to work at apparently does.
Tirado says she was fired from her job at a Port St. Lucie K-8 school because she insisted on giving students zeros if they didnt turn in an assignment.

(12,393 posts)you acquired the knowledge and skill.
When you pick up a non-fiction book at the library, do you have to turn in papers about the content while you are reading the content. If you understand the content, that is all that matters.
Regarding math, English, SS and so forth, I believe there should be an option to just demonstrate proficiency....with or without setting foot in somebody's classroom. Knowledge and skills are important. Not how you got them.
