hurricane update from honolulu at 9am local
cloudy, breezy but not unusually so, bone dry no rain overnight. surf is at or below typical for this time of year. may do the daily swim later if it stays the same. weather service still predicting strong winds and heavy rain for later today. most places closed but safeway/starbucks open but not especially crowded. even the ever-present abc stores are closed!
my parking lot floods in even a 15 minute storm so the ground floor ppl have made their own dams using concrete blocks and sheet plastic. invited them to come upstairs if they need to later.

It is down to 5 MPH! People have been advised to stock up and prepare for 2 weeks!
Climate Change makes two things happen...
1. Extremes in weather
2. Weather patterns staying in place for longer periods of time
There is a big Climate Change conf in San Fran in a few weeks and ahead of that there are hundreds of protests in the US and around the world on Sept 8th. I just signed up. RESISTANCE WORKS!!!!
